Location Claremorris
County Mayo, Ireland
better location . . .
Claremorris is superbly located in the heart of the west,
30 miles from the Atlantic Ocean surrounded by the rolling
hills and plains of South Mayo with a backdrop of Croagh
Patrick, and the Nephin and Partry mountains.
The river Robe rises to the east of Claremorris and
connects the town with the world famous trout fishing lakes
of Mask, Carra and Corrib. Clare Lake and McMahon Park is an
amenity development at James Street which was only opened a
few years ago.
commuting . . .
- Claremorris town is very well positioned to
facilitate commuting to other urban centres. Situated 37
miles (50 mins) from Galway City, many people commute on
a daily basis. The recently opened N17 bypass makes
travel to the city easier and has greatly enhanced
traffic movement in the town. Castlebar, Mayo's county
town, is a mere 18 miles away and Westport is 30 miles
away. Sligo is 50 miles away and takes 1 hour by
car.

- Claremorris railway station is a hub for all trains
travelling to Dublin, Westport and Ballina. Currently
there is a major initiative, known as 'West On Track',
which is campaigning to re-open the rail line between
Galway and Sligo. This would provide daily trains from
Claremorris to these destinations.
- Knock International Airport is only 15 miles from
Claremorris (20 minutes by car). There are flights to 25
worldwide destinations and daily flights to Dublin,
London, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham, Spain and
Portugal.
- Claremorris is also extremely well serviced by Bus
Eireann and a number of private bus companies. In
addition there are numerous taxi companies in the
town.
